Research & Development Cell Activities
The Research & Development (R&D) Cell is a vital academic wing of the institution committed to fostering innovation, research excellence, and technological advancement for the betterment of society and industry. The cell creates a conducive ecosystem that promotes high-quality research, sponsored projects, consultancy, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
The R&D Cell actively encourages faculty and researchers to undertake funded research projects and consultancy assignments, develop innovative solutions, and contribute to national and global knowledge. It aims to establish strong collaborative research programs with premier research institutions, universities, and industries in India and abroad. Interdisciplinary research and industry-oriented activities are promoted throughout the academic year to address real-world challenges.
The R&D Cell periodically monitors and supports research activities carried out by various departments, research centers, and centers of excellence to strengthen the institution’s research output, innovation capacity, and societal impact.

The major functions and responsibilities of the R&D Cell are as follows:
- Thrust Research Areas
Identify emerging and priority research areas across engineering disciplines and organize faculty members into specialized research clusters. - Sponsored Research & Funding
Promote preparation and submission of research proposals to national and international funding agencies such as AICTE, UGC, DST, SERB, VGST, ISRO, and other funding bodies. - Collaborative & Interdisciplinary Research
Encourage multidisciplinary research and collaborative projects within the institution and with reputed academic institutions, research organizations, and industries. - Research Publications & Conferences
Motivate faculty and researchers to publish high-quality papers in peer-reviewed journals indexed in Web of Science and Scopus and present their work at national and international conferences. - Research Coordination & Monitoring
Coordinate, monitor, and strengthen research activities across departments, research centers, and centers of excellence to enhance institutional research output. - Faculty Development & Higher Research
Encourage faculty participation in Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), workshops, and training programs, and support faculty members in pursuing Ph.D. and advanced research qualifications. - Innovation, IPR & Technology Transfer
Promote innovation, patent filing, intellectual property creation, product development, and technology transfer for societal and industrial impact. - Industry Collaboration & Resource Mobilization
Strengthen industry–academia collaboration through consultancy, sponsored projects, and joint research initiatives. Facilitate resource mobilization through extramural funding and review faculty and student project proposals for financial support.
