MECHANICAL ENGINEERING: PROPELLING FORCE OF LIFE
Mechanical Engineering programme established in the year 1980 with present intake of 120 students for UG programme , 18+18 for two PG Programmes in Thermal Power Engineering & Production Management.
Programme encompasses in different streams of knowledge on Manufacturing, Design, Thermal and Emerging fields of CAD / CAM / CAE. The state of the art infrastructure and laboratories to promote congenial academic environment to impart quality technical education.
The exclusive new building of Mechanical engineering programme is well equipped and ambient class rooms, Air conditioned Seminar hall of 150 seating capacity, R & D Centre, Advanced Computing Facility, WiFi facility, CC Camera Surveillance and Uninterrupted Power Supply along with basic amenities. Seven faculties with Ph.D in various specialization serving the department for more than 25 years and 20 faculties have more than 10 years of experience are pursuing doctoral programme at our University recognized Research centre.
More emphasis on Industry Institute Interaction is thrieved to empower cutting edge technology having 6 MOU’s to bridge the gap between Academics & Emerging Industrial trends. Department also facilitates Vocational training programmes on AutoCAD in collaboration with District Industries Centre, Ballari, Govt. of Karnataka and Refrigeration & Air-conditioning and Production Technology in association with AICTE, New Delhi.

Welcome to Mechanical Engineering Department, R Y M Engineering College.
We started our journey in the year 1980 and over the decades, we have grown our expertise and competence in Mechanical Engineering and Research. At undergraduate level we have programs in Bachelor of Engineering, Post graduate level we offer M. Tech in two different streams viz. Thermal Power Engineering and Production Management. The department has a Research Center affiliated to Visveswaraya Technological University, Belgaum. At present we have seven Ph.D scholars, having expertise in different fields of research. The primary focus of our curriculum is to impart technical skills among students and promote their problem solving capabilities that include hands-on experience by the faculty.
We strive our best to ensure that all our students gain strong academic foundation where they can develop technical, leadership skills and involve themselves in extracurricular activities as well. We believe that emphasizing in these areas will make our students well equipped to take leadership roles in the near future. Students are encouraged to undertake various research projects in their academic course. Faculty of our department have authored many papers in their research fields and are also serving as reviewers of technical papers for journals on regular basis.
