MECHANICAL ENGINEERING: PROPELLING FORCE OF LIFE

Mechanical Engineering program established in the year 1980 with present intake of 120 students for Under Graduation program, 18 Students for a Post Graduation Program in Production Management. Program encompasses in different streams of knowledge on Manufacturing, Design, Thermal and Emerging fields of CAD / CAM / CAE. The state of the art infrastructure and laboratories to promote congenial academic environment to impart quality technical education. The exclusive new building of Mechanical engineering program is well equipped and ambient class rooms, Air conditioned Seminar hall of 150 seating capacity, R & D Centre, Advanced Computing Facility, Wi-Fi facility, CC Camera Surveillance and Uninterrupted Power Supply along with basic amenities. 19 faculties with Ph.D in various specialization serving the department and 11 faculties are pursuing doctoral program at VTU recognized Mechanical Engineering Research Centre. More emphasis on Industry Institute Interaction is thrived to empower cutting edge technology having 9 MOU's to bridge the gap between Academics & Emerging Industrial trends.

About CIIIT

RYMEC- Mechanical Engineering Department has incepted a state of the art, Centre of Excellence by signing an MoU with TATA Technologies Ltd., Pune in association with Science & Technology Park under National Skill Development Programme, initiated through MHRD, Government of India, with nomenclature “Centre for Invention, Innovation, Incubation & Training”. These competency centres will expose our students to advanced technology adapted in the industry, provides hands-on experience, enhances employability skills and makes them Industry ready. These centres will help Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics and Management students in enhancing their core skills. These centres are geared with facilities which will make possible that our students can apply the theoretical knowledge gained in their academics and create conceptual projects and products that will solve many industrial and social problems.
The Competency centres established are:

1. Technology Research & Development Centre” having high-end Industrial workstations with Commercial licensed S/W tools. This competency centre is equipped with
   the following facilities:
   1. Workstation Configuration: Intel Xeon Processor, 32 GB RAM, 8GB Quadro Graphics with dual Bezel monitors.
   2. List of Software's available:
      1. Dassault System's suite package comprises of 40 modules for Industrial Design & Development, Research and Consultancy.
      2. MSC Software Suite package comprises of 81 different modules of Adams, Easy5, Marc, Apex, Nastran and SCFlow for CAE analysis.
      3. ISRO-FEAST comprises of 10 tools for Linear static, Free Vibration, Buckling, Transient, Frequency response, Random response, Base excitation, Thermal analysis and many more.
      4. I-GET IT for E-Learning on advanced technologies in CAD, CAM, CAE and PLM
   3. The center can deliver domain trainings on:

      2. Product Modelling
      3. Analysis
      4. Product Life cycle and Data management.

Welcome to Mechanical Engineering Department, R Y M Engineering College. We started our journey in the year 1980 and over the decades, we have grown our expertise and competence in Mechanical Engineering and Research. At undergraduate level we have programs in Bachelor of Engineering, Post graduate level we offer M. Tech in Production Management. The department has a Research Center affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum. At present we have 19 Ph.D scholars, having expertise in different fields of research. The primary focus of our curriculum is to impart technical skills among students and promote their problem solving capabilities that include hands-on experience by the faculty. We strive our best to ensure that all our students gain strong academic foundation where they can develop technical, leadership skills and involve themselves in extracurricular activities as well. We believe that emphasizing in these areas will make our students well equipped to take leadership roles in the near future. Students are encouraged to undertake various research projects in their academic course. Faculty of our department have authored many papers in their research fields and are also serving as reviewers of technical papers for journals on regular basis. Our website provides the complete picture of the academic program, details of student activities, workshops and seminars conducted profiles of faculty members and newsletters of the department.
